Information from the Makers of “Go Raw” Freeland Foods
WHAT’s ALL THIS RAW STUFF ABOUT?
Live organic food is truly the healthiest food in the world - pure and simple. All live (uncooked) foods have a higher nutritional value than they do when cooked. Living food also contains enzymes, which actually aid the digestion process, providing greater nutrient absorption.
When foods are cooked above 116 these live enzymes begin to die and above 145 are considered completely dead. Dead food is difficult to digest and can be very toxic. Many believe toxins to be the primary cause of almost all degenerative disease and illness.
There are many people today convinced that a 100% raw food diet is the sole key to optimum health. Raw fooders tend to have more energy, be less aggressive, get sick much less often (if ever) and look fantastic.
There is some danger, however, as the transition to a raw food diet can lead to a “detox” - the body releasing stored toxins. Depending on your condition this can result in almost anything - headaches, nausea, sleepiness, etc.. We encourage you to be responsible for your own health and take any precaution necessary.
WHO’s FREELAND FOODS?
My wife, Brana, and I, Robert Freeland are committed to loving our children - Ben & Leah - first. We have created a line of hand made, certified organic all live food using no sugar, wheat/flour or oil. We believe our participation in the raw/organic food diet and lifestyle is crucial in facilitating our children’s best interest .
“RAW” vs. “LIVE”
Yes, there is a difference. Most “raw” foods can be considered “live” - fruits and vegetables, for example. Sprouts are also one the most important foods included in a balanced raw food diet. All plants will have a higher enzyme concentration as sprouts than at any other stage in the plant’s development. Almost all edible plants that we know of can also be consumed while in the “sprouted stage”. All raw seeds have the potential to grow into a sprout and are not considered “live” until then.
Seeds are truly amazing. Under the right conditions many seeds can survive 100s of years and still be sprouted. This is because they are “dormant” - low energy level, low enzyme content and high in dense fats (upon which they survive).Because of this raw seeds are very hard to digest. Many, like flax for example, are nearly impossible.
Once sprouted, seeds become perishable, produce more enzymes and are considered higher in energy or “live”. We recommend sprouting all seeds prior to consumption.
WHAT IS SPIRULINA?
Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that contains the most remarkable concentration of nutrients known in any food, plant, grain or herb. It's the highest protein food- over 60% all digestible vegetable protein. It has the highest concentration of beta carotene, vitamin B-12, iron and trace minerals and the rare essential fatty acid GLA. These make spirulina a great whole food alternative to isolated vitamin and minerals.
WHY FLAX?
When sprouted, flax is arguably the healthiest seed on earth. One of nature’s best sources of Omega 3 essential fatty acids, flax is also loaded with lignan (known for having antibacterial and anti-cancer properties), protein & fiber making it a great digestive aid! *
Note - Try to avoid raw flax seed (even ground up flax can be difficult to digest and could oxidize, turning the oil rancid). Flax oil is processed and unfortunately strips the flax seed of nearly all of its fiber and lignan - disturbing nature’s intention.
